WHAT IS ARPLANK?

Block of ARPLANK, sustainable packaging material made from expanded polyethylene (EPE)

Available Colour:

Black

Density Options:

20/ 30/ 45 Kg/m3

Block Size:

2000 x 1200 x 150 mm*

ARPLANK is a highly resilient closed-cell bead foam packaging material, manufactured from EPE (expanded polyethylene). ARPLANK is produced by steam-chest moulding, the planks have excellent properties for absorbing and dissipating energy.

ARPLANK products exhibit isotropic behaviour.  This means they are perfect for the protective packaging of highly sensitive applications.

ARPLANK is 100% recyclable and in Europe, consists of 30% recycled content sourced from post-consumer PE or recycled ARPLANK waste from our customer sites.

ARPLANK enables material savings of up to 40% versus other PE foams, whilst maintaining the same protective properties.

Achieve more with less material. Transition to the foam material of the future, today.

The ARPLANK material has provided us an opportunity to offer a green alternative to XPE to many of our clients.

Protecting anything from glass to simulated bodies, the qualities ARPLANK offers has been a success and is just what our clients have been waiting for.

The 100% recyclable material ticks their environmental box, the isotropic nature of the protection it offers is another benefit.

ARPLANK makes the work easier for converters. It machines well for many of the standard disciplines and with no need to remove the outer skins, we get 150mm of usable material we buy.

The offered grades perform well above their weight, when compared with similar XPE grades."

ARPLANK 30 CO

ARPLANK 30 CO is a conductive material that provides reduced electrical surface resisitivty, it is ideal material for the protection of electro-sensitive goods

ARPLANK 30 CO has a permanent surface resistance of ≤10⁵ Ω (Ohm); used for packaging of sensitive products requiring ESD (electro-static discharge) protection in the electronics, automotive, solar and photovoltaics industries.

It is highly resistance to aging with the specified surface resistance guaranteed for more than 5 years.

DYNAMIC CUSHIONING

ARPLANK’s physical properties can protect heavy fragile goods using less packaging material.

compression-strength-icon (1).png

COMPRESSION STRENGTH

ARPLANK-based applications have outstanding compression set properties for returnable packaging combining heavy loads and long periods of protection.

compression-set-icon (1).png

COMPRESSION SET

Very low compression set values of 5% - 6% allows ARPLANK to return to nearly 100% of its original shape making ARPLANK the best in class material.

Smooth Surface ICON.png

SURFACE PROTECTION

ARPLANK’s fabricated surface is very smooth and offers the highest levels of surface protection for extremely sensitive products.

high-shock-absorption-icon (1).png

HIGH SHOCK ABSORPTION

ARPLANK is a highly resilient packaging option that resists repetitive impacts with only minimal performance decline.

ARPLANK is an energy-absorbing packaging material for products that require shock absorption, vibration dampening, insulation, surface protection or chemical resistance.

ARPLANK withstands multiple impacts without damage, is non-abrasive for Class A surfaces and enables weight savings of up to 40% without compromising on functionality.

Whilst conventional foams exhibit different physical properties along each of their axes, the isotropic properties of ARPLANK mean that it offers equal protection from every angle of impact. These isotropic properties give a superior level of protection and enable customers to achieve more with less material.

Performance

SUSTAINABILITY

ARPLANK is expanded polyethylene. It is 100% recyclable material with a first-class environmental performance enabling it to meet sustainability targets. ARPLANK produced in Europe consists of 30% recycled content sourced from post-consumer PE waste or recycled ARPLANK waste from our customer sites. A dedicated supply of high quality recycled material is vital to ensure material streams for ARPLANK production.

REDUCE – Switching to ARPLANK can reduce packaging weight vs other PE foams by up to 40% whilst maintaining static and dynamic performance. This creates savings in material volume, transport costs and overall environmental impact.

REUSE – ARPLANK is perfectly suited to reusable and returnable packaging applications over a long lifetime.

RECYCLE – ARPLANK is 100% recyclable and when produced in Europe consists of 30% recycled content sourced from post-consumer PE waste or recycled ARPLANK waste from our customer sites.

Designed for the circular economy, all ARPLANK manufactured in Europe contains 30% recycled content.  This material is 100% recyclable and at the end of its life, ARPLANK is returned to the material cycle to be reused.

ARPLANK produced in Europe consists of 30% recycled content sourced from post-consumer PE waste or recycled ARPLANK waste from our customer sites.  A dedicated supply of quality recycled material is vital to ensure material streams for future ARPLANK production. The post-consumer PE waste is compacted and crushed into ingots and then extruded. The recyclate is used to produce new ARPLANK at a minimum percentage of 30%. This process enables our customers to take advantage of an entirely closed-loop solution and work towards their own sustainability goals.

ARPLANK’s material composition also brings further environmental benefits:

  • Odour-free

  • REACH compliant

  • Free from heavy metals, such as lead, mercury and chromium.

  • Contains no halogenated or brominated compounds

  • Designated as PE recycling category 4
